A bridge concentrates a project's risk into a small number of critical operations — the pile that has to reach bearing, the pour that cannot be interrupted, the girder lift that closes a highway for a single night. Our structures group is built around those moments, with the engineering, equipment and crews to execute them once and correctly.

We deliver new crossings and the less visible but equally demanding work of keeping existing ones in service: deck rehabilitation, girder strengthening, bearing and joint replacement, scour protection and seismic retrofit, frequently under traffic and always under the constraints of a structure that must carry load again the following morning.

Work over and adjacent to water carries its own regulatory weight. We plan in-stream activity around fisheries timing windows, isolate work areas properly, and hold the permits and monitoring in place before the first piece of equipment reaches the bank.

New crossings: Road, rail, pedestrian and utility bridges in cast-in-place concrete, precast girder and steel superstructure configurations.
Deep foundations: Driven pile, drilled shaft and caisson foundations installed to design bearing and verified by testing.
Substructure works: Abutments, piers, pile caps, wingwalls and mechanically stabilised earth retaining structures.
Rehabilitation & strengthening: Deck replacement and overlay, girder repair, bearing and expansion-joint replacement, cathodic protection and seismic retrofit.
Marine & in-stream works: Cofferdams, isolation and dewatering, scour protection, riprap placement and bank stabilisation.
Engineered temporary works: Falsework, formwork, shoring and lifting plans are engineered and independently reviewed before a load is ever applied.
Critical-lift planning: Girder and segment placements are modelled, rehearsed and executed inside pre-agreed closure windows to keep corridors open.
Concrete quality control: Mix design, placement temperature, curing and finishing are controlled and documented on every structural pour.
Survey control: Independent survey verification at each stage catches deviation early, while correction is still inexpensive.
Staged construction: Half-width and phased builds keep existing structures carrying traffic while their replacements go in beside them.
Design codes: Structures are built to the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code and the owner's supplementary structural specifications.
Welding & fabrication: Structural steel is fabricated and erected by CWB-certified personnel with documented weld procedures and inspection.
Materials testing: Concrete, reinforcement and pile capacity are verified by independent testing agencies with results held on file.
Environmental compliance: In-stream work is scheduled inside fisheries timing windows and executed under approved isolation and monitoring plans.
